Due to feedback regarding the limit order entry system, two options for placing orders are now available. In addition to the existing limit order Order Book featuring Level II quotes, a more simple Order Book has been implemented that indicates the number of shares that can be bought and sold and what prices to expect for each action. The user merely needs to enter the number of shares and hit the "Buy" or "Sell" buttons to place an order. This order is guaranteed to fill but the price is uncertain and depends on market conditions. Your order should fill at the indicated buy and sell prices but this is not guaranteed.
The basic Order Book is now the default setting. Users who prefer to see Level II quotes and place limit orders can still do so by enabling the "advanced" trading mode in the Settings page of the Account tab.
Due to confusion on current system status regarding orders, each page with an order book now has a clear System Messages window that displays the current system status regarding your order. If an order was received, you will receive confirmations on whether sufficient DKP is in the account and whether the order was filled. The System Messages window will also be used in the future to provide confirmation for submitted content and comments.
The ranking system has been updated to present the current rankings in real-time. The ranking system now also includes rankings for content submissions in addition to net-worth. In the future, we will add more parameters to both rank ladders, including popular submissions (determined by votes) for content. The "My Friends" ranking feature is not yet available.
The simExchange trading system will now automatically make markets if no user orders are available. This way, there will always be a bid price to buy and an ask price to sell available to the user. The automated market making will only take place when no user orders are available to minimize the impact of artificial orders on the game's stock price.
Users can now leave comments about each game by clicking "Submit a comment" at the bottom of each game stock page. A form will appear on the right side of the page for the user to submit a comment. Users must be logged in to use this feature.
The discussion system is rather simple at this point, listing each comment in the order it was posted. Users can vote on the quality of each post. I am investigating how users can comment on each news article, screenshot, and trailer listed in an organized and accessible way. I am also looking at whether organizing discussions in threads would add value to the discussion system.
A number of bugs have been fixed, including a problem where the voting buttons would not be replaced with a vote mark after voting and a problem where clicking the voting buttons very fast would result in multiple votes for the piece of content.
A voting system has been implemented for users to submit their positive or negative opinion of user submitted news articles, screenshots, and trailers. Next to each article, screenshot, and trailer, the user will see the total current votes for that item. If the user has not voted on that item yet, a + button is available to vote up on the item and a - button is available to vote down on the item. Simply clicking on one sign will submit a vote. The website will immediately reflect the change on the screen and the voting buttons will change to reflect how the user voted. News articles, screenshots, and trailers are now sorted in the order of user votes.
The Order Book has been improved to automatically update with new orders. The bid and ask columns will now automatically update with the 5 best orders for each. You can now load a stock into the Order Book simply by clicking on the stock data from the Portfolio, Order Status, and History pages. The same feature is also available on search pages, such as browsing by genre or platform. The appearance of the Order Book has also been slightly altered.
A number of reported bugs have been fixed or recognized. The problem with placing a sell order when no existing sell order is in the Order Book has been fixed. A problem where the web page would report a division by zero incident has been recognized. The front page now reports the correct price change in a stock. The blue border around screen shots has been removed. A number of formating changes have been made.
The rankings system is now up. Rankings are based on a user's new worth at the end of the previous day (11:59PM) and are viewable by clicking on the Rankings tab. Rankings are updated only once per day. Whenever a user posts on the forum, a number will accompany the user name, indicating the current ranking of the user.
Clicking on a user's name on the rankings table will bring up the user's profile. This profile allows the user to share information such as favorite systems and games or gamer tags to identify the user in an online game.
Currently, only global rankings are available. In the future, users will be able to add other users to their "friend's list" so that they can compete in their own "league." The transactions history page is also now available in the account section.
