Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 is the same game as the one released for the PS2 on November 7, 2006. For those new to the series, Guitar Hero has the player taking the role of a rock star with a special guitar controller. The game play centers around the player pressing the correct fret buttons on the neck of the guitar and strumming the guitar as notes appear on the screen. The game features the 64 songs featured in the PS2 version and an additional 10 licensed tracks. Many of the tracks are original artist recordings.
The game features a career mode in which the player starts a band and takes the role of the lead guitarist. You go on tour to eight different venues and play three or four songs. If you play the songs well enough, the crowd will chant for an encore. Playing the encore successfully will unlock more songs. The game also features co-op and face-off modes for multiplayer play. The Xbox 360 version also allows you to download new songs from Xbox Live.
