The Darkness is a new first person shooter based on the comic book by Top Cow that is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is made by Starbreeze studios, the guys who made The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. The gist of the game is that you play as a Mafia hitman named Estacado who is possessed by The Darkness (sound awesome already?) The Darkness lets you unleash serious damage on other mafia folks through summoning hellspawn and opening black holes. However, you can only do this when you are in darkness—so you will have to carry your usual assault rifle or automatic shotgun until you can get back into the shade.

The game play is somewhat like a stealth game in which you want to knock out the lights. But instead of stealthily moving through the shadows, you can now totally pwn your enemies such as spring tentacles from your back to impale them. Eventually mafia hitmen and cops are no match and you will face baddies from a parallel universe. The game features online multiplayer with traditional death match and new modes.
