Neverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to Neverwinter Nights (PC) developed by Bioware in 2002. This sequel, however, is developed by Obsidian Entertainment, which is made up by
many from the now defunct Black Isle Studios (makers of Fallout). The previously planned
Xbox 360 port has been scrapped and NWN2 will not appear on Mac OS X or Linux as NWN did.
NWN 2 features the new Electron Engine, based on NWN's Aurora Engine, but uses Direct X instead of Open GL. The new engine makes the game more fitting for real-time play. The game is based on Dungeons & Dragons Revised 3rd Edition rules.
NWN2 features greater customization in its interface and camera controls done through
XML. The menu system has been replaced with a "context menu system" found in Fallout 2.
Players continue to control parties consisting of their character and 3 non-player characters (NPCs). The game is also multiplayer. Parties are now revised to treat members as companions rather than henchmen. The game also includes a new warlock base class and new prestige classes.
