In the year 2161, after an enormous earthquake, the United States is divided into two countries by the Mississippi River. The Eastern States formed the Atlantic Alliance, while the Western States become the Republic of Pacifica. A futuristic war breaks out between the two nations, with the Atlantic Alliance pitting cybernetically enhanced humans against genetically engineered super soldiers used by Pacifica. Each side has specific tactics and abilities.

You play as Mason Briggs, a demolitions expert for the Atlantic Alliance. The only publically available detail about gameplay is known "Terrain Deformation." Grenades and rockets will raise or lower the landscape, allowiing you to access new areas or defeat enemies.

The game is being developed by Day 1 studios, which brought MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf to the Xbox and F.E.A.R. to the Xbox 360. There is no word yet on whether Fracture will play as a FPS or otherwise. It has been given a Summer 2008 release window for Xbox 360 and PS3.
