FEAR (PS3) is a console translation of last year’s highly acclaimed paranormal first person shooter, FEAR (PC). The content is identical so that console players can experience what PC gamers experienced but on $599 hardware. FEAR puts the player on the First Encounter Assault Recon task force that is charged to face the paranormal.
FEAR features very intelligent AI that will work as a team to bait and flank you. The environment is destructible and the weapons are very powerful. The game also features bullet-time, a Matrix-like effect that slows down time and allows you to dodge bullets. The PS3 versions relies on checkpoints to save progress rather than manual saving by the player. The game features graphics on-par with a high-end PC and improves upon this with new enhanced lighting.
The multiplayer over Sony’s online service is full featured with all the modes found in good FPS multiplayer games. However, you can also use bullet time in FEAR’s multiplayer which adds a different dynamic from your average FPS.
