Red Steel is a first person action game developed specifically for the Wii. Players will be able to swing a katana and shoot a firearm using the Wii remote and nunchuck. Using the controller in a tossing motion will determine how a grenade is thrown in the game. Shaking the nunchuck will reload the gun.
The developers say Red Steel will feature a very intelligent AI. AI allies will be able to take care of themselves. Enemies will move with their environment to attack you, such as jumping on a table instead of running all the way around it to reach you. The player will also be able to force foes to submit without killing them by stopping the katana right before impact. This may convert the opponent to instead join the player.
Red Steel uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine 2.5. The developers are working to improve the graphics beyond the screenshots that have been leaked and players should not expect current screenshots to be the final game.
