Delistings, Part 6

Posted by Brian Shiau at 2:25PM on October 1, 2007

The simExchange is continuing its consolidation of stocks listed for trading. The following stocks are candidates for delisting. These stocks were chosen for delisting due to inactivity in the stock and/or lack of discussion for an extended period of time.

All shares will cash out at the last traded price. This price is determined as the fair value as the market has not viewed the price as undervalued or overvalued for some time. These stocks will no longer appear when browsing the genres and platforms pages. You will still be able to view the stocks' pages by searching for the games.

If you feel any of the following should not be delisted, please make a case and post in this forum by 11PM on Wednesday October 3:

Top Games page updated

Posted by Brian Shiau at 5:33PM on September 30, 2007

The Top Games page in the Research section has been updated to be more useful in relaying information. The most active stocks have been changed to "Most Interested Games," meaning the games that are getting the most attention on the simExchange. Rather than ranking the games by the volume of shares traded, the table now ranks games by the product of the volume and last traded stock price. This gives a whole different set of games that are much more representative of traders' interests than before.

November NPD Futures candidates

Posted by Brian Shiau at 1:49PM on September 24, 2007

We are looking for the community's input on games to be listed for November NPD Futures. If you think a game that is not mentioned here should be listed, please suggest and provide a case. Due to the large number of great titles coming out as we approach the Holidays, we are going to see if we can get more than the usual 10 games listed.

Any game selected for an NPD Futures contract that is not already listed as a stock will also have a lifetime sales stock listed. All games will also have Metacritic Futures listed. The following games have been identified as candidates for November futures, ordered by release date:

New Achievements

Posted by Brian Shiau at 1:29PM on September 22, 2007

Following user feedback, we have introduced new achievements for trading that give the simExchange a bit more of a single-player feel. Now, in addition to Global Rankings, players will also achieve Trader Levels in accordance with their net worth. This allows more casual players to climb in Trader Level at their own pace.

Once you reach a new Trader Level, you maintain this level even if your net worth dips below the amount for that Trader Level. Your trader level will also appear under your comments along with your Global Ranking.

Additionally, Community Levels now have titles that will also appear in your comments.

Level 0: Noob
Level 1: Contributor
Level 2: Veteran
Level 3: Speaker
Level 4: Guru
Level 5: Oracle

Update: Per user feedback, "Noob" has been change to "Newbie."

More on Metacritic Futures

Posted by Brian Shiau at 10:19PM on September 16, 2007

We introduced Metacritic Futures a week ago to begin forecasting the quality for a game. In this time, we have decided to change some of the rules. All Metacritic Futures will expire 14 days after the game's release. The futures contract will trade until the contract expires. This means you can trade the contract and price in reviews as they come in. The logic behind this is that we cannot ensure trading will be frozen before any reviews are released. Pricing in reviews as they come in can also add an entertaining dynamic.

A new Metacritic Futures page has been set up so that you can quickly find all Metacritic Futures that are listed on the simExchange.

We have also listed Metacritic Futures for every October game.

September 18, Tuesday: Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing 4 (Xbox 360).

September 19, Wednesday: Activision's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC).

September 20, Thursday: Square Enix's Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War (PSP).

September 21, Friday: Electronic Arts' Half-Life 2: Orange Box (Xbox 360).

September 22, Saturday: Sony's Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3).

September 23, Sunday: Activision's Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360).

September 24, Monday: Activision's Guitar Hero 3 (Wii).

September 25, Tuesday: Activision's Guitar Hero 3 (PS3).
