Limitations on market orders lifted

Posted by Brian Shiau at 9:26PM on January 13, 2008

Traders using the basic trading interface (the one in which you just enter the quantity of shares you want to buy or sell) are no longer limited to entering an order up to the size of the currently available order. For example, if only 200 shares are available for you to buy now, but you want 500, you can enter an order to buy 500 shares and the system will fill 500 shares at the best available prices (this is called a "market order"). In the basic trading interface, the cost of each trade is now just an estimate. This change should make trading using the basic interface much faster.

No changes have been made to the advanced trading interface that allows traders to place "limit orders" that ensure the price an order is filled. To learn more about the advanced trading mode, read this tutorial.

Happy New Year from the simExchange! Thank you all for playing and supporting us over the past year--especially those of you who have stuck with us since the beginning through all the rough times as we develop and polish a video game prediction market. We appreciate your suggestions to make this community better and your forgiveness when we mess things up. We look forward to all the things to come in 2008 and hope to make the simExchange even more enjoyable and useful for you.

Delistings, Week of December 17

Posted by Brian Shiau at 7:24AM on December 14, 2007

The simExchange is continuing its consolidation of stocks listed for trading. The following stocks are candidates for delisting. These stocks were chosen for delisting due to inactivity in the stock and/or lack of discussion for an extended period of time.

All shares will cash out at the last traded price. This price is determined as the fair value as the market has not viewed the price as undervalued or overvalued for some time. These stocks will no longer appear when browsing the genres and platforms pages. You will still be able to view the stocks' pages by searching for the games.

If you feel any of the following should not be delisted, please make a case and post in this forum by 11PM on Monday December 17:

BioShock (PC)
Blue Dragon (Xbox 360)
God of War II (PS2)
Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s (PS2)

Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3)
Persona 3 (PS2)
